> TR/2010 San Antonio Race for the Cure
The Pink Path
What am I doing? I'm patricipating in the Komen San Antonio Race for the Cure on Saturday, May 1, 2010, because I want to make a difference in the fight against breast cancer. And although I have been a long time supporter of Komen and breast cancer awareness in general, I also just celebrated my first year of breast cancer survivorship.
Your breast health? The greatest risk factors for breast cancer are being female and growing older. The likely risk factors that led to my getting breast cancer. Breast cancer knows no boundary, be it age, gender, socio-economic status or geographic location. One in eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. That's one in eight within your company, school and organization!
The key to survival is early detection. Three simple steps for early detection are regular mammograms, clinical exams and breast self-exams. Unequivically the key to my having had a chance at surviving breast cancer. And, remember, breast cancer affects more than just the patient; friends and family need support too.
What does Komen San Antonio do? Komen San Antonio is an innovative leader in the breast cancer movement and the battle that threatens our mothers, daughters, wives, sisters, friends, and even men. Established in 1997, the Komen San Antonio Affilaite has raised and invested more than $8.7 million. Seventy-five percent supports local nonprofit programs providing vital breast cancer screening, treatment and education right here in San Antonio. The remaining 25 percent goes to Susan G. Komen for the Cure Grants Program for groundbreaking breast cancer research and scientific programs around the world.
Imagine a life without breast cancer?! I am asking your support to make this a reality. No donation is too small, anything you can give is appreciated! Please help me reach my fundraising goal by making your donation today! You may contribute online with your credit or debit card by clicking on the link at the bottom of this email. Your support helps us get another step closer to a world without breast cancer.
Thank you!!!

I just wanted to say thanks to all who are supporting me in this year's SA Race for the Cure. Last year I was 4 days post surgery (my 2nd of 4) when the race day came and I was not able to participate. I am so blessed to be able to walk this year.
